Fall Puppy Packs
From the time they are born, all puppies receive early neurological stimulation and socialization with a variety of different age groups. They also begin litter training at an early age to help make potty training at your home easier.
To reserve a specific puppy or join a waitlist for a future litter, we recommend placing a deposit. Be sure to communicate which puppy or gender & color combination you are interested in. Once a deposit is received, we will add you to our waitlist.
For those that live locally, we welcome visits to our home to meet our pack and see their unique personalities. For those that are out of state, we are happy to set up a video chat to introduce you to the puppies.
Transporation options are available. Inquire on our "Contact Us" for more information.
I am a small breeder with limited puppies available, a wait list is the best option for serious puppy parents. A deposit of $300 is required to reserve the puppy of your choice
First and foremost, Research me AND the breed
Contact me after you have done your research! I look forward to chatting with you. Most of your questions will be answered in group or on my website https://www.facebook.com/groups/NorthernRidgeCavaliers
Your Deposit can be rolled to another litter if:
you do not get the puppy you wanted, emergency situations with health, home, etc.
This is only an option before committing to a puppy.
I announce expecting and make litter announcement in our Facebook group
I will contact you 2 weeks after the babies are born, I will send video & pictures of puppies that might interest you at that time
at 2, 4 & 6 weeks you will get updates with pictures and videos, so you can watch your baby grow.
At 6 weeks, you can decide if the puppy you picked works for you. You have the option to roll your deposit to the top of the next litter ONLY if the puppy has an issue that doesn't work for you. I.e. Personality, or a documented immediate family health issue that alters your ability to care for your puppy. No other reason after committing to your puppy is acceptable. Your deposit will be forfeited. After 6 weeks, see contract
Upon veterinarian clearance at 8 weeks, pick-up
Babies that are not spoken for, will be offered in our Facebook group at 6-8 weeks.
I prefer all babies in a home by 10 weeks for socialization purposes and potty training. 8-13 weeks is the most critical time for learning this.
Visits welcome!! I keep all of my dogs in a home environment. Their health, grooming & activities such as agility, show & therapy keep them occupied and well socialized when they are not raising babies.
Arrangements will be made for pick-up following vet clearance
Each puppy from Northern Ridge will be examined by our veterinarian at 8 weeks, and you will be sent an individual report for your puppy.
Remaining balance payment is CASH when picking up your puppy
At this point your puppy will be starting out with their first set of vaccinations and deworming,
Arrange a vet visit for your puppy to receive their 2nd set of vaccinations at 10-11 weeks of age. This will be 2-3 weeks after receiving first round.
You have weeks to plan the weekend of pick-up, so MAKE SURE you pick-up at 8 weeks. Leaving your puppy longer MUST be prearranged and agreed to when committing to your puppy.
Schedule pick-up time when you will have a day or two to spend bonding + acclimating your puppy
Bring a small carrier with a potty pad and a laying mat to make your puppies ride home comfortable + clean
On the side of caution, I recommend that the puppy does NOT visit public areas or be placed on the ground in public areas until 2 weeks following the 2nd round of vaccinations. This includes while traveling home. Use a pee pad in the crate for the ride home.
Puppies can act shy their first day or two home, give them time to adjust and offer comfort. As long as they are eating and drinking, there is no need to worry. They will open up and show that wonderful personality in due time! After arrival, it is common for the pup to experience loose stool from the stress of the move, new surroundings, new people, etc. Please do not be alarmed; yogurt and pumpkin are your friends and will make your new pet much more comfortable. Call us if you have concerns.
Your puppy will come with the following:
AKC Limited Registration Application
AKC Puppy Folder - Includes AKC registration form, a coupons, new puppy owner's instructional handbook, and access to AKC news and events.
Signed written contract and bill of sale
Signed 1 year health contract and gurantee
Record Book of first set of vaccines and deworming
Puppy Health Wellness Check - signed by vet.
30 days Free Accident + Illness Insurance
Puppy Play Kit with toys + treats
Blanket with mom's scent
A small bag of dog food, Purina Pro Puppy, in order to help transition into new dog food if you choose to change it
Because your puppy is very small approximately (3-4 lbs at 8 weeks) the kit has a kitty collar with elastic band, release clip & bell. This is NOT for walking your puppy. This collar is simply for safety. A tool to hear your puppy in the house. If the puppy is behind you, you will hear them and not step back on them. If the puppy gets behind the sofa, you will find them! I suggest removing all collars when puppy is left unattended in a pen or crate. Puppies have somehow gotten their teeth stuck in collars and collars caught on the oddest things.
Puppies are sold with Limited AKC registration (NO breeding rights)
(Exceptions can be made for good candidates)
Christmas Puppy Packs
Pick a puppy food that works best for you.
We feed a mix of fresh, wholesome toppers and Purina Pro Plan Puppy
After a few days at home, you can add some of your food in with the remainder of my food provided to transition the puppy
If the puppy gets loose stool or mild diarrhea from the change, give them a little cottage cheese to firm their stool
Your puppy is on free choice food and water when they leave.
Typically this way of feeding never leads to overeating, but that depends on your choice of food and activity level.
Example: If picking a higher protein food, you might not want to offer self feed. If you chose to provide the meals daily, make sure you are feeding the right amount to the puppy to get the proper nutrition. Fresh water should always be available free choice, with the exception of nighttime to lessen the chances of accident while potty training
Have your choice of crate/playpen, food, pee pads, and toys set up before the puppy arrives. There are lots of "must have" recommendations in our Facebook group!
Regular vet checks and all shots recommended by your Veterinarian. Our protocol is the 5-
way shot (DHLPP) at eight weeks, booster at 12 & 16 weeks; no Lepto until after 6 months of age. In most areas of the country a rabies vaccine is recommended at 6 months or according to your Vet’s recommendation,
If you are a stay at home puppy parent, small Crate training works. It is not my preferred training or sleeping arrangements. You can purchase a crate that will be big enough for the puppy when full grown. Place a box in the back of the crate to make the crate only big enough for the puppy to stand up and turn around. Bed crate. If too big, the puppy will potty in the bedding, or if left too long. The puppy will learn to potty in its bedding if done wrong...This only works if you can attend to the puppy hourly.
My suggestion is an x-pen. This is a puppy play pen big enough to have a section for sleeping, a section for pee pads, a section for food & water dishes and a play area all in one! These can be bought portable. You might need to tape pee pads down, purchase dishes that can't be tipped, self refilling dishes if you plan to work long hours.
Simply start moving the pee pads towards the door to break the puppy from them. Works good in cold months. Place pee pad in front of door, so puppy learns to go to door and eventually place outside.
A puppy will need to potty
-after they wake up from a nap
-after drinking
-after a meal
Don’t wait until they ask you, just take them out and give enough time. "Errorless learning" is an incredible training technique. This is also a good time to reinforce going to the door.
If puppy is unattended for long hours, phone cameras are inexpensive and fairly easy to set up! You can view and hear your puppy while out or at work. Careful of leaving app open, it uses a lot of data to stream. I view and close app after checking on my babies!
I use "NEEWER" about $40 online, the app ISMARTVIEWPRO. Your local computer guy can set the camera up on Wifi, so it is portable around the house, or it can be plugged directly into your router box with a cord.
A Note On Giardia and Coccidia
Parasites survive by being difficult to eradicate and easy to spread from dog to dog and are shed internally when a puppy is under stress. For example, the transition to their new home.
Two of the most frustrating but common parasites your puppy might be hosting
are Giardia and Coccidia. These are not worms, but two species of protozoa –
single-celled organisms that reproduce in the intestines of infected animals and
shed their spores into the environment through the infected animals’ feces.
These spores can survive in watery environments and soil, long enough to be
incidentally consumed by other animals, either by drinking contaminated water,
eating contaminated grass, or just walking through (or sitting or lying on)
contaminated soil and then grooming themselves.
Once inside an animal, the spores find a home within the cells of the intestine
and reproduce, starting the cycle all over again. Infections can be extremely
difficult to eradicate from the environment but early treatment is simple.
Wild animals can transmit Giardia and Coccidia; known to “travel,” Thanks to birds giving them a ride to a new location. These parasites can be found anywhere dogs roam including the sidewalks, park, kennels, and daycare facilities, mainly because it is so difficult to end the life cycle. We advise our new owners to have a fecal test on every new puppy or dog that comes into your home. Don't wait to seek veterinarian diagnosis and treatment if your new puppy is experiencing diarrhea as the protozoa could readily establish a foothold in your
yard, making reinfection a risk.
*All questions regarding when to spay or neuter, when to worm again, when to do rabies, flea/heart worm are for your vet on your first visit :)
*Heart worm is NOT a myth! It is a silent killer, so treat and guard your puppy against heart worm. I HIGHLY recommend topical Simpaicia Trio ALL my dogs are free of heartworm & fleas going on 6 years! It was a relief to find this after MANY failed attempts with other big name products. You may have to request this because the vets have many different options now.
*If your puppy is not acting right for any reason, please see a vet. Do not consult Facebook or me. We can discuss the problem after the vet has been consulted
*If you have limited/pet AKC registration PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER your puppy. Puppies are cute, yes! Birth is not. Talk to your vet about when to do this. You do not see everything that goes on because breeders post cute pictures and videos of puppies for you to view. The myth that mother nature takes care of it, is FALSE. Your dog needs your assistance and knowledge for breech births, torn umbilical, cleft palate babies, premature babies, retained placenta and so much more... The hard fact is that breeding by UN- knowledgeable breeders can result in the loss of your beloved pet, serious complications or result in large vet bills.
*If you have been given Full AKC Registration/breeding rights and intend to breed for the first time, have a mentor and vet work closely with you to ensure the safety of mom & pups.
*Questions regarding cleaners, brand preference, and training methods can be found on online.
